An Experienced Speech Pathologist and Swallowing Therapist
Charleston, West Virginia is my hometown and I completed my Bachelor’s Degree at West Virginia University in Morgantown. On to the University of Tenessee where I earned the Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology at UT, Knoxville. After the National Board Exams, I earned the Certificate of Clinical Competence, from the American Speech and Hearing Association.
And Then the Fun Began…
I enjoyed great early training and work opportunities with children and have worked in hospitals, big and small, with adults affected by neurological events as well as head and neck cancer. Medical Speech Pathology, particularly dysphagia i.e. swallowing therapy, presented the chance to make a difference in the most urgent situations. I've done advanced training and work in remediation of dysphagia—the disordered swallow; I'm trained and certified to provide neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) for muscle reeducation of swallow, also known as e-stim for swallow. I have advanced training and experience with Parkinson's Disease and related disorders.

Continuing Education in My Field Is a Passion
There's so much to stay up on; I'm eligible for the ACE continuing education award from the American Speech and Hearing Association.
